1. Choose how to add the date

Open Add product. Enter the package date yourself or choose the date scanner. A scanned result needs your confirmation; printed dates, reflections and curved packaging can cause mistakes. Keep the package nearby while you check it.

2. Name the product and its place

Use manual entry for any product, including homemade food. A barcode can help identify a packaged product. If an online lookup has no suitable result, enter the name yourself. Add its quantity, explicit unit and storage location; a price is optional.

3. Review the stock you already have

Use the pantry view to find the dates that need your attention. Search for a product or filter by storage location before your next shopping trip. Date categories organize the list; they are not food-safety decisions.

4. Record what actually happened

Record a whole item or a portion used, adjust a quantity, move a lot to another location or record discarded food. Product history keeps the context. Waste statistics show recorded quantities and costs without combining incompatible units or currencies.

5. Set your preferences and keep a backup

Language, market, currency and units can be chosen separately. Changing a preference does not convert existing quantities or prices. Export a backup when you want a copy; keep exported files somewhere appropriate for their contents.

Canadian English pantry examples use metric units and CAD. Language, date interpretation and market are separate app settings; changing them does not reinterpret saved entries.

Package dates and reminders help you plan. They do not establish whether food is safe. Follow the label, storage instructions and local food-safety guidance.
