Information stored on your device
The app stores product names, barcodes, categories, storage locations, quantities, package dates, optional prices, history and cached product lookup results in an app-private database on your device. Language, market, currency, number-format, date-format and unit preferences are stored locally. The initial market suggestion uses the device locale, not GPS.
You do not need an account. The current app has no advertising, developer-operated analytics server or developer-operated cloud synchronization. The developer does not receive a remote copy of your inventory. Some technical data and product queries leave the device through the services described below.
Camera and date recognition
Camera permission supports barcode scanning and reading dates from package photos. Barcode decoding uses ZXing; date recognition uses bundled Google ML Kit. The app processes photos and recognized text on the device and does not upload them for recognition. You review the results before using them. Camera permission is optional and manual entry is available.
ML Kit sends technical diagnostics and usage information to Google. This can include device manufacturer/model, operating system, app package/version, installation identifiers, recognition performance, configuration, input/output sizes and event/error information. Google uses this information for diagnostics and usage analytics. These records are separate from the photo contents. The app does not provide a switch to disable ML Kit telemetry. Google documents HTTPS transmission and no onward transfer of this SDK data to third parties.

Online product lookup
When you use barcode lookup and a product is not available locally or in the current cache, the app can request its name and brand from Open Food Facts. The HTTPS request includes the barcode, selected language and market, and a generic app user agent. The service receives connection information such as your IP address and applies IP-based request limits. The OTHER market setting omits the country parameter.
Open Food Facts receives these product queries to provide lookup results. The app does not send your complete inventory, prices, quantities or package dates. Lookup results are cached locally. You can avoid online lookup by entering products manually and using core inventory functions offline.
Open Food Facts operates independently and handles its service records under its own privacy practices. We do not control its retention or deletion of connection and request records and do not promise immediate deletion or anonymous processing by that service. See https://world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy.
Google Play and reminders
For installations from Google Play, the app can check for and offer in-app updates. Google Play processes technical information such as device metadata, app version and installed modules to determine update availability and size. Google Play also handles store and installation activity under its own policies. See https://developer.android.com/guide/playcore/in-app-updates#data-safety.
Expiration reminders are scheduled locally. Notification permission is optional and can be revoked in Android settings. The app restores reminder scheduling after a device restart. Device settings and power management can affect notification delivery.
Backups and exports
Android Auto Backup is enabled. Depending on your Android version, device provider and backup settings, Android may copy the app database and settings to your backup account or transfer them to another device. The developer does not operate or have access to this backup service. Manage it through your device and backup-provider settings. See https://developer.android.com/identity/data/autobackup.
When you choose export, the app creates a JSON inventory backup. You choose where to save or share it using Android system interfaces. The receiving service's privacy practices then apply. Exported files can contain inventory, history and prices. JSON exports do not include regional preferences. Import reads the file you select and creates a local safety backup before restoring data.
Sharing and purposes
Local inventory is used to provide inventory management, history and reminders. Google receives ML Kit technical data for diagnostics and analytics. Open Food Facts receives lookup queries to return product information. Your chosen backup or export provider may receive a copy when Android backup or an export is used. The developer does not sell your inventory or use it to target advertisements.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you delete it in the app, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Clearing app storage removes local inventory and settings for that installation. Exported files, safety backups outside that storage and provider-managed backups must be deleted separately. An Android restore may restore previously backed-up data.
The app has no remote user account or developer-hosted inventory copy. Google and Open Food Facts control retention and deletion of records held by their services. The app has no mechanism to request deletion of that externally collected technical data, and the developer cannot directly erase it. Use the relevant provider's privacy controls or contact options.
If you email the developer, your email address and the information you choose to include are used to answer and handle your request. Do not send your inventory or photos unless needed for your support request. Correspondence is kept for as long as necessary to handle the request and any applicable legal obligations.
Security and your choices
The database uses Android app-private storage; this is not a claim of separate database encryption. Online product requests and documented Google SDK transmissions use encrypted connections. You can deny or revoke camera and notification permissions, use manual entry, manage Android backups and remove your local data. Working offline does not permanently disable operating-system backup or SDK activity after reconnection.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data, obtain a copy, object to processing, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact albertmoczadlo@gmail.com about information held by the developer. For data held only by an independent provider, use that provider's privacy channels. These rights do not give the developer remote access to your local inventory.
Children and family use
The app does not ask users for names, ages or contact details and does not provide accounts, public profiles or chat. The technical-service and backup flows described above can still occur when a child uses the app. A parent or guardian can manage device permissions, backups and local data. Contact the developer with privacy concerns; contact the relevant provider about records held only by that provider.
This website and policy changes
This website and policy are hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps. Microsoft processes connection information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver and protect the website. Its privacy statement describes its services. We have not added advertising scripts, third-party analytics or a contact form to this website. Images and fonts are served without third-party tracking services.
At the main homepage, browser language and region preferences can select an available version. This does not establish your physical location, and no GPS or external geolocation service is used. A manual language selection stores only the chosen locale code in your browser’s local storage. Change it in the language menu or clear this site’s browser data to remove it. If storage is blocked, the language selector still works for the current visit.
The cost calculator runs in your browser. It does not send or save the amounts you enter. Following an external link takes you to a separate service with its own privacy practices.
We update this policy when data practices change and show the effective date above. Privacy contact: albertmoczadlo@gmail.com.
